​An advocacy issue was raised during the Harm Reduction Capacity Building workshop, which was held in Durban on February 26, 2024, in preparation for South Africa’s Global Fund Request for Funding (2025 – 2028) workshop. The CSF members requested more information on harm reduction. SANPUD organised a site visit to harm reduction centres in eThekwini.
On March 25, 2024, the Civil Society Forum (CSF) members had the opportunity to observe harm reduction practices at the harm reduction centres and outreach sites in the eThekwini district. They witnessed the needle and syringe service and behaviour change interventions aimed at promoting safe drug use.

Human Rights Workshop

​On the 14th of March 2024, SANPUD in collaboration with Tsohang Youth Projects and Tintswalo Home Based Care Centre, organised a Human Rights Workshop. This initiative was supported by the South African Police Service (SAPS), Breakthrough, and Cooperative Governance & Traditional Affairs (COGTA). The workshop was conducted at Katlehong Buyafuthi Hostel in Ekurhuleni District. A representative from SAPS, constable Mtwa, explained the rights of PWUD regarding law enforcement.
On the 27th of March 2024, SANPUD collaborated with Indibano and hosted a Human Rights Event in Sedibeng district. The event was aimed at providing PWUD community members with information on human rights and their responsibilities.
